Today is another Thankful Thursday Design Team day over at CrazyAboutCricut. This week's assignment is to make a project to represent your kid's favorite summer movie. My boys and I set out to make an invitation to my 8 year-old's birthday party.... a Diary of a Wimpy Kid party! :)
Here is the front and back. I printed them like a book cover! :) I scanned in the book cover so I could create this authentic book look-a-like. Using Photoshop, I added some text, a piece of crumpled paper I found online, and some other DOWK images. I found a font that looked close enough to the cover font and altered the back cover to read "Bryce is a wimpy kid"... my son LOVED that his name is in the book title!
See, even the tape from the book cover showed up well.
The invite is sized to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", so it can be mailed in an A2 envelope.
Here is the back... sorry I covered our address... as much as I'd love to have you all come to the party, my house wouldn't be big enough! :) Did you spot the old cheese?? If you or your kids are fans of the book you'll know all about the cheese touch! :)
The inside of the "book" is actually coloring pages of all the top characters. There is a total of eight pages inside.
Here is Greg, the main character.
If you'd like to make these invites, I've included the files. Just click on the images, and save to your computer.
Here is the second coloring page file. I printed them back to back on white card stock. I then used a saddle stapler to bind the book. Use whatever method works for you and you'll have a fun little pocket sized coloring book.
Here is the front cover to our invite... again, feel free to grab it and make one of your own. If you do, please come back and leave me a link, I'd love to see how yours came out too. :)
And the back... if you'd like it personalized with your child's name, I'd be happy to do it for you, just leave me a comment with your email address or email me at cardsbycg@hotmail.com.
Please head over to CrazyAboutCricut to see the other inspiration projects from the Thankful Thursday Design Team. While you're there, take time to craft with the kids in your life and link it up to the Thankful Thursday Summer Movie Challenge.
