Today is DT day for the Thankful Thursday team over at Crazy About Cricut. This time, Jenny is presenting a Bookmark challenge! Well, my kids LOVE reading and I assign reading projects throughout the summer. For this challenge, we made a school year reading log... it has enough pages to last through the entire school year and is bound using my Bind-it-all.
As you can see it includes my reading log bookmark PDF file. Feel free to grab it, I've included a free download via 4 Shared.
We cut the hippo and the sun from Create a Critter. The hippo is cut @ 2 1/2", I hid the flower
on the hippo because it's for my 6-year-old son. The water and the grass is all cut at 1". I put Glossy Accents on the water and used my white Gelly Roll pen to add stitches on the hippo's shadow, the blades of grass and around the body of the bookmark.
The sun is cut at 3", the cloud is cut at 2 1/2". I applied blue ink with a dauber to the edges of the cloud. Again I used my white Gelly Roll pen to add stitches on the sun's shadow and around the body of the bookmark.
I grabbed my PDF file and printed enough reading logs to get both of my kiddos through the school year. These measure 2" x 7" and we cut our bookmark pages at 2 1/4" x 8 1/2" so we get four pages out of one 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock.
We used glue runner to attach our reading log pages to our book.
See, we made them double sided. We put them so that the bound top is always up. This one is for my 6-year-old.
And here is the second book we made. This one is my 8-year-old's.
Here is a look at the PDF file. This file was designed so you can make two double-sided bookmarks with one print out.
And here is the PDF file if you'd like to make a bound book like we did. You can download it here via 4 Shared.
So, in one afternoon, we have two completed bookmarks that will last my boys the entire school year! :)
Please take some time to craft with your kiddos today. Make a bookmark, and you can enter it into Jenny's Summer Bookmark Challenge over at Crazy About Cricut.
