Diary of a Wimpy Kid : The Card

Okay... here I am planning my son's 9th birthday... he wants a Diary of a Wimpy Kid themed party and there are NO PARTY DECORATIONS AVAILABLE!! What's a Mom to do other than make everything! :)

This blog post will be the first of four posts about this super fun party I created for my son. First thing's first... here is the card I made him, compete with "Greg" the main character of this super popular children's book series.
The card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" orange card stock with the corners rounded with my 1/2" corner chomper. Next, come the layer of black card stock, measuring 4 1/8" x 5 5/8" and a layer of wide ruled notebook paper measuring 4" x 5 1/4". I printed the sentiment directly on the notebook paper.

Here is Greg. He's the main character of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series by Jeff Kinney.

This is the sentiment I created using Times New Roman font and an orange box, complete with the shadow. I made this file to mimic the movie cover for the first Wimpy Kid movie.

The inside of the card got a TPC studio stamp and a piece of "stinky cheese" (come back tomorrow to see how I made "cheese touch" cheese for the goody bags too). You could add some more notebook paper to the inside for a cohesive look.

This little piece of stinky cheese measure 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece of yellow paper.

I love the black eyelets I added to the left side of the card. It sure adds a boy-friendly touch and mimics the look of the holes in a notebook.

Come back tomorrow for directions for making the "stinky cheese" and how to make a "cheese touch" game. I'll also have a post about the goody bags all the kids will be leaving the party with.

  3. How cute!! Now, admit it, even if you could buy the party things, wouldn't you want to make them anyway? I think it is so sweet that you are doing this!
