Pumpkin Candy Dispenser

Welcome to the Fall and Halloween Blog Hop featuring the Thankful Thursday Design Team!! If you came from Jenny @ CrazyAboutCricut you are in the right place.... if you just stumbled upon the hop, please head back to Jenny's blog where the hop begins, you don't want to miss a stop.

Today I have a Pumpkin Candy Dispenser to share with you.

My boys really wanted to make a carved pumpkin craft for the blog hop... being that the hop is at the end of September instead of October, we opted to pick up a FUNKIN (fake pumpkin) and carve that up instead.

For this craft, we used the plastic stick-in pumpkin parts. We bought ours at Wal-mart, I'm sure you can get them elsewhere (or even grab them on clearance after Halloween).  We also used a set of those clown glasses, ours cost $1.47 at Wal-mart.

We also bought a large Funkin artificial pumpkin from Michaels (they were 50% off when we went in) for just over $10.

After cutting the top off (a parents job) my boys selected the face parts to use and we figured out the face placement. Then we traced a cardboard gift wrap tube onto the place where the mouth will be. Make a matching hole on the back of the pumpkin. Then cut the cardboard roll to size. We cut them at an angle to look like the tongue (on the bottom) and a matching angle cut on the top.

We used a serrated knife to CAREFULLY cut the holes and ran the gift wrap tube through the pumpkin at an angle (see the picture). Bryce painted the inside of the tube ends and Owen painted the outside.  We used red paint for the inside of the mouth and orange everywhere else.

See how our pumpkin "barfs" out the candy... the things BOYS think are funny!! At least we used wrapped candy!

Here you can see how the tube runs through our pumpkin. We also cut slits for the arms of the glasses to slip inside to keep them in place... it works like a charm.

Thanks for stopping by today, your next hop stop is Christel @ OneScrappinSista.... but before you go, please leave me a comment (and become a follower) for the chance to win my blog candy.
I don't have a picture, but I am giving away a set of Halloween stamps!!

  2. That is such a cute idea, Cheryl. And a lot less messy than using a real pumpkin. Your boys are very creative, but then look who's inspiring them. :)
