Trip to the patch

Today is another Craft Junkie Too Design Team day. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love being on Tracy's Design Team!! Her awesome assignments are just a small part of it.  The challenge for this week is:

Autumn

My kids and I love going to the pumpkin patch... it's the unofficial start of the holiday season! :)  We head to our local patch and stomp through the muck, get lost in the corn maze, play with the pumpkin catapult, take a hay ride and finally get to pick out our family of pumpkins... I say "family" because my boys always pick a "Mom", "Dad" and two "brother" pumpkins.  It's too funny to watch my boys lug the big "Daddy" pumpkin into the wagon.

All of the cuts to create my card come from Create a Critter! The wagon is cut at a sizable 2" tall (nearly 7" wide) but after I cut off the handle and reattach it with a brad, it easily fits into an A2 envelope.

I attached the handle back onto the wagon with a small silver brad and I placed two large silver brads on the wheels. I inked the edges of the wagon, wheels and handle with black ink and a finger dauber.

The pumpkins measure 1 1/2", 1 3/4", 2" and 2 1/4". I inked the edges of all the pumpkins with some orange ink to add dimension.

Instead of a sentiment, my kids really wanted the wagon to be "a real radio flyer" so I printed out the logo and mounted it onto an oval of silver metallic paper to tie it to the metal brads.

Here you can see how I used all the shadow layers of the different elements (welded in my Gypsy) to create a very interesting card base. I set the card up so that it has the fold at the top and can be displayed upright. I love when my cards can become a stand-alone decoration too. :)

See, here it is standing!

That's it, please head over to Tracy's blog and see what

  1. So cute, Cheryl. I'm hoping to get my Design Studio working again so I can make some of these shaped cards. If not, I may just have to break down and get a Gypsy. Have resisted because of the small screen.
