Happy New Year and Family Friday Project

Today is "Family Friday" over at Crazy About Cricut.
The assignment is to make a Happy New Year project with your kids.

I've also entered this card into a Black, White and Silver Challenge

Here is my 8 year old, Bryce, designing the card on my Gypsy.  My two sons worked TOGETHER to design this card.... I was shocked to see them working so well together.  Usually you get an electronic (like the Gypsy, Nintendo DS, Wii etc.) involved and they are fighting over it! :)

My boys chose to use the Songbird font cartridge.  The numbers were cut at 4".

Here is my son putting on the final touches and seeing if it needed anything else.  As much as he wanted to add little faux stitches, I thought the card was fancy enough. :)

The finished card size is 3 1/2" x 6 1/4".  As you can see, when the card is closed it reads "2010" and when the right flap is opened, it reads "2011".

The inside sentiment was printed on my computer.  The font is "floral."

The  card base is white card stock and background paper is DCWV Glitter Stack (the glittery white balls reminded my boys of the New Years Eve ball drop) and the numbers are made with white card stock and a metallic silver card stock for the number shadows. I added more metallic card stock for the mat under the sentiment.

The last step was adding the little rhinestones.  We mounted the numbers up on pop-dots (except for the number one inside the card).

Thanks for stopping by!! I wish each and every one of you a wonderful  and SAFE holiday season.  May 2011 be prosperous and crafty for all of you!

What an amazing job the boys did with you. This is absolutley wonderful. The colors, the paper, the shimmer, the note, everything.

I hope you have a great New Years and be sure to keep in touch. I really enjoyed chatting with you in 2010 and I know 2011 will be even better. : )

Wow! Your boys did a fantastic job!! :) And I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see BOYS getting involved in crafting! I have a little boy and anytime I try to do anything "artsy" with him my husband reminds me that he's not a girl :(
