Blog Hop Day Eight: Apple Basket

Today is the last day of the Back to School Blog Hop!! :(

It's been a pleasure sharing my projects with you!  I've truly enjoyed reading each and every comment.
I will draw the blog candy winner on Monday, August 16th, 2010.  Please feel free to leave comments today to be eligible to win the prizes. I will email the winner as well as posting the winner on my blog on Monday.

All projects will be available (including Monday's PDF file for the bookmarks) on the link at the top of the page (right under my banner) after the blog hop is over. Again, thanks so much for letting me share with you this week.  Thanks, too, to the lovely ladies of the blog-hop.  I hope I have inspired you as much as you have inspired me.

    Now, on to the project:

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today. I have been posting a project daily for a week. Please feel free to scroll down my blog and view the other projects.

Todays project is an apple basket card set. All six of the apple
cards are shaped cards with white card bases.

Step one is cutting a bowl for all the fruit to sit in. I used the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge to cut a bowl using vellum. Using the Fit to Page feature, cut the Pioneer Girl on Accessory 2 (the bowl will cut between 30"-33").

You'll have to glue the vellum bowl down into white card stock. Using a glue runner, glue only the top rim (above the lip cut), around the edges, and the bottom of the bowl. Attach it to the card stock and hand cut the bowl backing.

Step two is cutting the apple from Preserves cartridge. I used apple 4. Cut all layers at 4 3/4".

Again you'll have to make a card base by hand. I applied glue runner to the top, stem and leaf and attached it to white card stock. Then cut out the apple to create to card back.

I cut six apples to get a nice full bowl of apples.

Here is a picture of the apples all piled in the bowl.
See how they peek out of the vellum bowl?

Have you fallen in love with this bowl of apples?
I have a fruit basket for sale on Etsy.  Check it out here:

Blog Hop Day Seven: Easel Card

Thanks to everyone who has been hopping along this week!! I have loved reading every comment.  If you left a comment and included your blog address, I am now a follower! :)

Don't forget that every comment you leave me gets you an entry for the blog candy prizes! You can also leave a comment on the blog-candy post (link on the left) and there is also a hidden entry opportunity.  Can you find  it?  Here is a hint, look up! :)

I think I have left the best projects for the last few days of the blog-hop! So, on to the project

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. If you haven't visited recently, please scroll down through the last few days, I've been posting like crazy with a ton of cool projects!

Today the project is a Easel card. These are cards my kids will take to the first day of school to give to their lovely teachers. The inside says "I'm so happy to be in your class!"

First, you need to fold your easel card. Start out with a card stock base measuring 11" x 4 1/4". Fold the card stock in half at 5 1/2" and then fold one side in again at 2 3/4". You should end up with a card base that looks like the picture.

I then printed the sentiment of my printer and cut it out. The mat measures 4" x 2 1/2" (black) and 3 1/2" x 2" (orange check patterned paper) and 3" x 1 1/2" (sentiment).

Here is the front. Measurements are as follows:

    Black card stock base: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
    Orange patterned paper: 5 x 3 3/4"
The apple 4 cut from Preserves: 3 3/4"
Black velvet scallop ribbon: 4 1/4"
    3 mini Prima flowers
Apple and flowers attached with pop-dots

Attach the card front to the card base ONLY on the bottom
(under the scored/folded line). This allows the card to fold to stand up on it's own.
    Can you see the dimension??

Attach the sentiment on the inside with pop-dots.
This makes a little catch on the inside for the card front to
rest on when the card is in the easel.

Here is a picture of the card standing up.

Here is a picture of the set of cards my boys will give
their teachers on the first day of school.

Blog Hop Day Six: Thanks Tunnel card

Thanks so much for joining me on the sixth day of the Back to School blog-hop!! I'm so excited you came back to craft with me again!  Don't forget to leave me a comment at the end of this post for your chance to win my blog candy at the end of the blog hop!

Today the project is the tunnel card.  You can easily make this card for most any occasion, but for our Back to School themed hop, I made todays card for a Teacher Thank You!

Step one: start with a card base and a card inside.  Both will measure 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Fold one for the card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and fold the other to match but then add two more score/fold lines, each at 2 1/4". Now your second card base (the inside of the card) will form the letter "M."
    - see picture-

Step Two: cut a window size hole in the center of the inside card.

I used a hole cutter to make sure the hole is centered.  Mine measures 3" but you can make yours measure as large or as small as
you'd like to fit your card design.

Step Three: I decorated the inside side panels with matching paper to the front.  The side panel papers measure 2" x 5 1/4" (for the red) and 1 3/4" x 5" (for the decorative paper).
Then I cut a border for the window and attached it all.

Step Four: Attach the inside to the card base.  I fold the whole inside up and start with one of the panels and glue it to the inside of the base. - See picture - Then attach the second side by applying glue runner and closing the card to attach the inside to the base.

Step Five: Decorate the front.  I cut the front papers to 5 1/4" x 4" and 5" x 3 3/4" and attach the "notebook paper" I printed on my computer next.  I then used my ATG gun to attach the front to the card base.

Step Six: I added the sentiment I printed on my computer to the front using pop-dots.  Add the apple with pop-dots too.
(Preserves Cartridge, Apple 4 cut at 2 1/2")

Step Seven: I then attached the hanging apple to the inside of the tunnel card.  I cut the Apple 4 cut from Preserves Cricut Cartridge at 2" (cut two of the base layer).  Sandwich a length of thread between the extra base of the apple and the assembled apple.  Tape (or glue) the thread to the top of the window of the card, making sure the apple hangs within the window center.

Step Eight: I added doodle dots to the apples to complete to apples.

As you can see from all the patterns of the paper, I made a total of three of these cards.
Here are pictures of the completed set of cards:

Here is a close up of one of the completed cards:

That's it I hope you like it!
