Halloween Blog Hop: Day 1

My first project is a simple treat holder using the "Celebrate It" bags that are at Michaels.  I'm sure you can find similar bags at other stores, but that's where I grabbed mine!

Here are a list of the materials you'll need for this project:

You'll also need a stamp set, stickers or Cricut element to complete this cute little treat holder. I also used ribbon to decorate the front, but it's really up to you! :)

Step 1: Cut your card stock (here I used black) to 3 3/4" x 8 1/2" - You can make three of these holders from a 12" x12" sheet or two from a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet.

Step 2: Score your card stock at 3 1/2", 7" and 7 1/4". Fold all score lines.

Step 3: Cut your Celebrate It bag to 3 1/2" x 3".  The bags I buy are 3 1/2" x 2" x 6 3/4".  So when you cut the length to 3", you'll get enough for two treat holders plus just a little waste.

Step 4: Attach the bag to the card stock base.  I use my ATG gun to first attach only one side of the bag.

Step 5: Then apply glue to the second half of the bag and just fold your card stock base to adhere it in the right place.

Step 6: I used self adhesive ribbon cut to the width of my holder to decorate the front.  I found this ribbon in the dollar bin at Joann's. You could easily use any Halloween ribbon you've found.

Step 7: I cut out a scallop circle from white card stock, a circle from DCWV glitter paper and added a black cat sticker from K and Company for the front elements. Can you see the rhinestone eyes on that kitty?

Step 8:  I used my ATG gun to add glue to only the top half of the kitty element.  I then attached it to only the top flap of my treat holder. Pretty cute huh! :)

Step 9: Slip in some Halloween candy.  I used these Gummy Body Parts from Frankford Candy (I bought them at Walmart). This one is a gummy brain, but the candy also includes gummy eyeballs, feet, hands, ears etc.

Step 10: I then added a little seal under the flap with a CTMH Halloween stamp I bought at a garage sale this summer (CTMH Seasonal Celebrations).

Sorry, I know this is another holder, I just missed the pic of the black one before I sealed it shut.

 Step 11: Seal the treat holder closed with a pop dot.

That's it! Super easy... in fact they are so easy look at all the others I finished in a little over an hour.

Back to School Treats

Hi to all my blogging friends!  I wanted to say "welcome" to my new blogging friends too!

Today I have a craft to share with you that 

I've been working on for some time.

During the Back to School blog hop, I created these simple and CHEAP back to school treat pouches.  I've loved these for a long time, but sharing them with you all inspired me to create! :)

I have a 5 year old son starting Kindergarten this year.  I also have a 7 year old entering a second/third grade two-part split class (two classes joined together with two teachers).  

So, with only two sons,  I have to provide treats for a total of three classes... that's a ton of treats!! 

 I made a total of 90 candy treats (I made extra just in case).

Here are the treats for just one of the three classes.

Here are pictures of the treats, including a teacher treat for each class and a decorated bag.  I didn't get a picture of the bag, but I included the jpeg file of it.

Here is a teacher treat (also filled with candy).

Right click on the picture and save it to use this file for your project. 

I put four pieces of candy in each pouch, tied it shut with the crafting twine, and added a three-part tag (complete with apple and "A+ Student" stamp).  If you'd like to know how to make these, here is the link from the tutorial I wrote up for the Blog Hop.
