While visiting my sister the other day we got a little crafty. The first project we worked on will be showcased on Thursday for a Thankful Thursday DT post for Crazy About Cricut. We also created this super simple pumpkin shaped card.
The card base is a simple set of circles. Our measured 5". Although my sister does have a Cricut, she doesn't have a large collection of carts and for some reason I left my Gypsy at home! :( So we created this super cool, quick and simple way to create a shaped card... using a sewing machine.
Cut two 5" circles (using whatever method you choose, we used Plantin Schoolbook). Emboss the top layer - we used Houndstooth - I really wanted the Distressed stripes but left it at home too.
I stamped this cute little sentiment using a .97 cent Studio G stamp from Walmart. I attached it with glue stick to hold it in place.... then my sister, equipped with her sewing machine went to work. We used a zig-zag stitch but a straight stitch would look cute too. She attached the little sentiment tag to the front of the pumpkin.
We cut a simple little stem and sandwiched it between the two pumpkin circles (again using a glue stick to hold the pieces temporarily). A few more stitches on the top of the circle holds the card together just fine.
I added this simply sweet satin ribbon to the body of the pumpkin to finish it off. I think I'd add a little inking if I were keeping this sweet card.... my sister wanted to keep it, so I'll just have to make myself one another time.
How do you like my simplified crafting?? I never knew how much I relied on my Gypsy or my collection of Cricut Carts until I didn't have them at hand!!!

Are you reading my mind? I need a pumpkin shaped card and I had to send my Gypsy back to Provo Craft (would not load my cricut imagine carts so they are going to do it for me) thanks so much Cheryl! You are a doll!
