Family Friday Project

Thanks so much for visiting me! Today's project is featured at CrazyaboutCricut.blogspot.com on Jenny's wonderful Family Fridays!!

I LOVE crafting with my kiddos, I have a 5 and 8 year old.  Both of my boys love creating handmade gifts for the holidays.  Today I'll be sharing a project that includes the kids, hand prints and gift giving!!

These candle holders are wonderful gifts for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or even teachers.

Here are the supplies you'll need:
White paint (I suggest acrylic paint)
A foam paint brush
Paint pens (or craft paint and thin paintbrushes)
Candle Holders (mine are from IKEA, Galej, 4 pack for $1.50)
and kids, of course! :)

Paint your child's hand with a generous coat of the white paint.  If you are doing more than one candle holder for each child, I suggest re-applying the paint each time.

Help your child by placing the candle holder in his/her palm and place each finger against the candle holder (I place the fingers one at a time to avoid smudging).

I set the holders upside down on the table to dry for awhile.  Depending on your paint, it may only take a half hour to dry enough to move onto the next step.

Decorate your snowmen/snowwomen using paint pens or paintbrushes. My kids are 5 and 8 and can use paint pens to decorate their hand print snowmen. If you have smaller kids, you may want to do this step yourself.  We also added snowflakes using the paint pens.

Here is my 8 year old's finished candle holder.

Here is my 5 year old's snowmen.

We used personalized stamps to mark the bottom of our candle holders, but you can write your child's name on the bottom, don't forget to add the year to these (especially if they are gifts).

Here is the completed candle holders with the candles inside.

Here is the completed candle holders with the lights down.

Please take some time to craft with your kids today! :)

I have to tell you...those little snowmen fingers are awesome. Did you see that somewhere or did it just come to you? I would have never thought of that! They are going to make great conversation pieces too.

Love them,
Georgiana : )

Oh how fun is this!!! I have found over the years that my most treasured pieces are the ones that have my children's hand prints on them. This qualifies! ;)
