Nintendo DS card and Family Friday

Today is "Family Friday" over at Crazy About Cricut.

The assignment is to make a Toy project with your kids. The actual assignment was to make a toy project that can be about their/your favorite new toy they/you got for Christmas, or any favorite toy.

When we got started on this assignment for the toy project, my two boys just KNEW they wanted to use their brand new Nintendo DSi's as inspiration for this project.  Together we designed a Nintendo DS card.

Front of card and the DS closed

Card and DS open

The top and bottom of the inside of the card include a ID badge holder we cut down to fit the size of a gift card.

The idea is that the little gift card pockets will serve as a place for a message on the bottom and a gift card on top.  In addition to being totally useful, they really make the card look like it has the little screens like the DS has.

All the buttons are applied with pop-dots and I used the Cri-kit pens to add the letters etc. before I cut them on the Cricut.

The Nintendo DS card, complete with little lights on the top left
and the camera lens on the bottom right.

I really hope you like this project as much as we do!!

I have the cut file for this project.  I designed it on my Gypsy with my kiddos.  If you'd like the cut files, please email me or leave a comment with your email address and I'll get the file to you.

Here are the details:
Card size: 3.5" x 6.25"
Corners rounded with the 1/4" corner chomper
Card stock: teal card stock from a assortment pack (Joanns)
The little lens is metallic cardstock
Cri-kit pens to draw out the buttons - you can just hand-draw them if you'd like
The little lights are a small rectangle hole punch I grabbed from a garage sale
I bought a pack of 10 badge holders from the Dollar Tree

Thanks to chicken nuggets for dinner and a couple sets of greasy hands, I had to re-make this card before I could photograph it!  Thanks boys!! :)

If you'd like to buy this card, you can find it in my Etsy store at:

I found this on a search the other day, and now again on fb. I just love this card, I have an 11 year old that I asked to make one with me, he said, "You make it for me" as he is burried in his dsi
