"Smile" Doggy Card

I just had to fit in a card today.  I didn't have a lot of time to craft but I couldn't resist this little puppy!
I saw a design team member over at Fantabolous Cricut use this doggy from Paper Pups and instantly had this card in mind. I cut the pup at 3 1/2", but I cut his main layer three times, once in the light brown, once in yellow (for his duck floaty) and once in orange (for the beak). He's attached to the card base with pop dots.

All of the paper I used came from my scrap bin, the blue circle remind me of pool water or bubbles. :)  I added an embossed "smile" sentiment from my stash. Even the thick blue sheer ribbon is from my scrap bin.

I added just a few white doodle lines to the brown back ground layer.  Glossy Accents give the dogs nose some wonderful shine while some flat back adhesive black pearls add the perfect eyes for both the dog and the duck.

The oval card base (welded on my Gypsy) measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"... I grabbed this oval from Preserves, but you could use any oval you'd like.  I sized the additional layers to 4"x 5 1/4" and 3 3/4" x 5".

Tall Doggie Card

If you haven't yet, take a little time to craft a card for the challenge over at Paper Playtime! :)  The theme this time is to make a TALL CARD (9" x 4" card base).  Although I can't enter (because I'm on the DT),  once I got started on the tall card, I had to try it again! :)

I made this birthday card for my twin sister (her bday is May 24th).  She is a doggy trainer so I thought this card would be perfect for her.  I got the paw print border from Give A Hoot (I welded two of the borders together to fit the full 9" card base).

The doggy is from Paper Pups (cut at 3 1/2"). I colored a rhinestone black for the eye. He is mounted to the card with pop dots.

I heat embossed the sentiment (from Hero Arts, Big Hugs stamp set) with black embossing powder and added three black buttons above the border. I tied white craft twine through the button holes and coated the knots with clear nail polish to prevent fraying and loosening. I used Studio G glitter glue to give the paw prints sparkle.

The background paper is from Cloud 9's pet pack. I added another stamp from the Hero Arts, Big Hugs set to the inside of the card. I also used my white gelly roll gel pen to add stitches on both the card front and inside.

Jen's Birthday Blog Hop

Hi everyone!! We are all so happy to have you hopping with us today!!

You should have come here from Celeste's blog  (isn't she so wonderful).  If you just happened upon my blog and would like to start at the beginning, please go back and visit Jen  (the birthday girl) so you won't miss any of the crafty ladies on the hop!!

Here is the birthday card I made for Jen!! It has LOTS of purple... after all, she is the Purple Scrapbooker! :)

The card is shaped like a cloud.  I've been obsessed with shaped cards lately, I don't know what it is but they are so fun to make!! As you can see, I used my Gypsy to weld two cloud shapes together.  When I do this, the overlap creates a flat side on the card base when it's folded, so I always cut an additional top layer to cover the entire card body.

Here's the little butterfly I added to the cloud.  I put Glossy Accents and Stickles on the butterfly wings as well as placing a few dark purple rhinestones to represent the flutter trail. The wings are curled up and propped up with pop dots while the butterfly's body is glue straight to the card.

.

I just freehanded the trail and spacing for the rhinestones. I used cute plaid paper for the cute but uncommon purple cloud! :) Here you can see all the little stitches I doodled on Jen's card.

I stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment on a scrap of the purple polka dot paper and used a square punch to cut the little "v"s to create the little banner shape.  I layered up the sentiment and had to punch each layer as I built it up. This banner is added with pop dots.

More stitching and another stamp for the inside.

Supplies:
Bazzill purple metallic card stock base
purple plaid paper (cloud) is Heidi Grace
Polka dot paper (on butterfly wings and sentiment tag) is also Heidi Grace
