Blog-Hop Day Two "Monster Booklets"

Yesterday on our blog-hop, I made a bookmark reading log. Today I am making matching monster booklets. These are simply made by covering notebooks in matching paper and adding the same monster to the front of the cover. I made two different cover designs: the first booklet style and the second flap style.

I bought a five pack of these cute little blue notebooks at my local Dollar Tree.
 The booklets measured 3 1/2" x 5".

The booklet style cover was cut at 7 1/4" x 5"
The flap style was cut at 3 1/2" x 10 3/8"
Each had an 1/8" spine (which I scored before folding).

I then added the ribbon on the spine.
The booklet style ribbon measured 13"
The flap style ribbon measured 10"

My son's picked out the Mini Monsters cartridge yesterday for the bookmarks, so we used the same cartridge today for the matching booklets.
Today we cut all cuts and layers at 3".
We then mounted the shadowed cuts up on pop-dots
(we used Therm-o-Web 3D Foam squares).

Here is a picture of our complete booklets, two in booklet style, two in flap style.

Here are all our matching booklets and the reading log bookmarks from yesterday.
Here is a link back to that project if you'd like to take a look. It even includes a PDF file for you to print out your own reading log to make the bookmarks.

Thanks for hopping along this blog hop. To win some blog candy from CardsbyCG, please become a follower and leave a comment at the end of this posting. I look forward to hearing what you think of this project!  The blog candy drawing will be held on Monday, August 16th, 2010.

Here is the blog-hop line-up!
The link (with the school house picture) on the left will take you to the beginning of the line-up.

How fun! What a great idea to make a little notebook to go along with your bookmarks! I may have to make a set of these for my niece to track the books she's reading.

Great project!

Coordinating reading logs and booklets are perfect. I do that in my class too and then the students ask..." Mrs. Carson, Do you like moose?" Everything in my classroom is all theme related...to moose!

I am going to visit my local dollar tree and get some of those notepads. I think this is a fabulous idea! Also, it is good for stocking stuffers (you can change the picture to match any theme).
TFS this idea because I am always looking for fun little gift ideas.
