Stinkin' Cute Card

Today marks the start of another challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas.

I LOVE Create a Critter!! This would have to be one of my favorite cards I've creating using CAC. 

The card base is welded on my Gypsy.  I sized it to 4 1/4"x5 1/2".  I cut the skunk at 2 3/4", the stump measures 1 1/2" and the blue layer measures 3 1/4 x 4 1/2. I added a black layer behind the blue sky layer measuring just 1/8" larger.

I inked the blue layer with royal blue ink and a finger dauber.  The skunk's eyes are black flat back pearls and I added many layers of Glossy Accents to the nose to give it the wonderful shine and dimension. The sentiment is a mix of two different My Pink Stamper stamps from her Punny-licious set.

I inked the stump with black ink and the grass with forest green ink. The grass layer is from Plantin Schoolbook but at 1" and 3/4".

Can you see all the dimension here?? I attached the first layer of grass down, then added the stump with a layer of 1/8" pop dots. I then attached the second layer of grass on top. The skunk is placed on top of the stump with 1/4" pop dots. I love all the dimension!! The last thing I added was the black gel pen stitches around the postage stamp shaped card base.

Purse shaped card

I just discovered this fleur de lis paper in the DCWV Travel Stack and HAD to use it.

I grabbed this oblong shape from Gypsy Wanderings, using my Gypsy, I welded it into a purse shaped card measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" so it will fit in a standard A2 envelope. The flap is a tag shape (also from Gypsy Wanderings) I welded to the blue fleur de lis layer.  Originally, I designed this flap to open to revel the sentiment but decided I liked it better embossed on the bottom corner.

Here is the full height of the card, including the ribbon handle. I love the fleur de lis paper, but I grabbed the center compass from another patterned paper (I punched it out with a 1 1/2" circle punch) and added a 1 3/4" layer to match the card base too.  The base is cut from a worn paper looking cardstock (also from the Travel DCWV paper stack).

I added a button to the center of the compass medallion, adding just a little bit of dimension. A second button adorns the bow on the left side of the handle. I inked all the paper edges with some brown ink and a finger dauber, I love the aged look this simple technique adds. 

I embossed the Scrappy Mom's sentiment using super fine gold metallic embossing powers. I had a little issue getting a clean impression on the foiled paper, but I think it turned out fine.

Here you can see the fine details in the foil papers... I love it.

And one last look at my little bow.  I use a bow-easy to get this uniform look on such a small bow.

Up-cycled Bookmarks

I have a fun out-of-the-box project for you today. I had a bookmark swap to do, so I came up these pretty simple laminated bookmarks.

The paper stock is rescued from a thrift store find. I grabbed a 1960 book called "High Adventure in Korea". I took the text rich pages and cut them down to 2 1/2" x 6". I inked around all the edges with brown ink. 

I cut the branch from Gypsy Wandering at 5 1/2" and hand cut the little triangles for the corners with scraps from the same paper as the flowers. I also added some Stickles to the flower centers. The little "friend" stamp is from Studio G... it really says "hello friend" but I just masked the stamp.

For the lace tail, I wanted off-white lace but didn't have any, so I dyed the white lace with left-over coffee to get the color I wanted to coordinate with the bookmark.

I punched out the piece fir the back with a 2" scallop and added my personalized stamp and inked the edges with the same brown ink.

Part of the bookmark swap rules was to laminate them, so I did that too... I should have photographed it BEFORE I laminated them, but you get the idea.

I know I didn't use Winter Woodland, but I took a look at the booklet online and it has some very similar branches on it, so I went with it! :)

Berry Sweet Card

I made a card today that just screams summertime! :)

I made this cute craft on craft card today.  It's an craft colored A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card base, the mat is a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of craft embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I printed the sentiment directly on the mat using Edwardian Script at 36 points. Then I masked the embossing folder so it wouldn't emboss over the sentiment. 

For the central cut, I cut the strawberries from Preserves at 1". The scalloped oval is from Gypsy Font at 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and the oval is from Gypsy Wanderings at 2" x 3". I reverse embossed the strawberries and mounted the left one up on pop dots (as well as the stem). 

Here you can see how the sentiment section is not embossed. I added some white gel pen doodles around the central cut and the card base.

I love adding buttons to my project, these are tied with some white string before attaching them with hot glue.

I added a spare flower to the inside of the card and drew some matching gel pen stitches.

From this angle, you sure can see all the texture that the embossing adds.  I love that.  For the ribbon layer, I added a wider strip of sheer white ribbon under two lengths of red and white bakers twine.  I tied the bow with my Bow Easy before attaching the ribbon to the card.

Morning Glory Card

Today is Paper Playtime Digi DT day!! YEAH!! 

I am featuring digital stamps and papers by Doodle Pantry.  This project includes both the Morning Glory Image and the Spring Day Digi Paper Pack.

This is the first time I've used images from Doodle Pantry, but I have to say how much I love them!! Here you can see the back ground paper is a wonderful vine with flowers.  The flowers came in pink but I used my image editing software to change them to blue to better go with my image.

The sentiment stamp is from Scrappy Moms. Lots of gel pen on this card too! :)

I added some thin lace to the body of the card but also added it under my image oval.  The scalloped oval is from Gypsy Wanderings. I just cut it 1/2" larger than the oval I put behind the Morning Glory image.

There are LOTS of layers on this card. I cut out two of the morning glory images and attached a second set of flowers with pop-dots. Then I added the white oval to the blue scallop with glue runner but added all that to the card base with pop-dots. The white pearl on the center of the card stands up quite a bit too.

Can you see the dimension in this picture?? I even added the sentiment with pop-dots!!

Peppermint Bunnies

Jenny over at Crazy About Cricut is celebrating Thankful Thursday. If you haven't heard about Thankful Thursday, it's all about family time, crafting with the kiddos and spending time together. The theme this week is to make Easter or Spring Treats.

 My sons and I are making these cute bunnies for classroom goodies for Easter.  They turned out so cute! :)

First off, I know you are thinking it already...

"Where in the heck is the Gypsy cut file for these A-DOR-A-BLE bunnies? Cheryl always shares her Gypsy files!!"

Well, here it is:

To make these yummy bunnies you'll need a Gypsy, the Gypsy Wanderings cart and these other supplies:

Peachy Keen face parts stamp set (or draw on the face by hand)

ATG glue or other glue runner

Scotch Quick Dry Glue

Tweezers

tape

Ink pad 

Peppermint patties candies

- we also add my son's personalized stamps for the back of our bunnies - 

See how cute a personalized stamp is? I love these and they only cost $6 each.

We cut out all out pieces on the Gypsy. On my file you'll see one layer for the head (including the welded ears), one layer for the faces (including the nose cut out), and one layer for the inside of the ears.

With the noses cut out of the faces, we just lined up some Peachy Keen face parts on our stamp block.

Then we flipped our faces and taped a piece of pink card stock to the cover the nose hole.

We also glued on the inside of the ears using Scotch Quick Dry Glue.

Next I applied ATG tape to the face and head pieces and my boys put them all together, sandwiching the peppermint patties in-between.  So cute and they really don't take too long. We put 50 of them together in just over an hour.

What an adorable side shot, huh!

We made a tag to match our bunnies.  Here I clipped off the ends of the ear parts. The "Happy Easter" stamp is from Close to my Heart.

We put 25 of the bunnies in one of these $1.50 paint pails from Joann's. We added some plastic Easter grass and some sheer ribbon to the outside and we were done.

So cute right!  Now download the Gypsy file and take some time to craft with your kids today!

I have this monster themed birthday pack to share with you today. These are for Jenny so I really hope she received them already! I made the card and my two sons put the notebook together. They said Jenny needed a gift (not just a card) and insisted that "EVERYONE" needs a notebook. :)

Here is the card. I used Mini Monsters for the two part red monster.  All the monstery layers were cut using Post-it Craft Paper. I embossed the red layers and the blue horns. 

 I used Gypsy Wanderings for the card base (welded with my Gypsy).  To make the card layers, I just resized the card shape by 1/4" for each mat.

The little speech bubble is from Create a Critter. I created the sentiment by combining "a simple hi" and "big hugs" from two different stamps in the same stamp set.

All the stamps are from Hero Arts "Big Hugs" set. The black and white ribbon is from Joann's (I think it's a wonderful compliment to my gel pen stitching).

This is the inside of the card... and the monster's tail! :)

Again, I embossed the red layer of the monster's tail. You can see how well the Post-it Craft paper embosses.

This is Jenny's notebook from my kids.  They used the same paper I used for the cover. It's American's Traditions paper called "Game Day." I don't know if it's still available, it's been in my stash for a while. We used my Bind-it-All to bind the notebook.

This cute little monster is cut from paper from the DCWV summer paper pack and glitter paper for the party hat. Didn't my 8-year-old draw a wonderful smile! He used dimensional paint. My 6-year old added the googly eye. I added the gel pen stitches.

This is a little stamp we picked up at a garage sale.  I think it's from a Close to my Heart set. I think the hand-written look is perfect for a child! :)
