Baby Cards

I made these wonderful little baby cards for a challenge over at Sentimental Sundays.  I love their challenge because it really forces you to get sentimental!! :)

The challenge this week is:
Childhood!

I picked the sentiment for these cards first, then I couldn't decide if I wanted to make a boy or girl card so I went ahead and made both!

Onsie cut from New Arrival at 2 1/2"

Here are the buttons I added (from the $1 bin at Michaels)

I added a matching strip of paper on the inside.

Here is the onsie again, I added a metallic
baby face sticker on the front.

Here is the baby girl card.  Again, the onsie was cut at
2 1/2" from New Arrival.

Same buttons, here you can see the metallic hanger I cut.

Again, matching paper on the inside of the card.

Same sticker on the front of the girl card.
I hope you like my cards!! I had a blast making both of the baby cards.

In case you couldn't read the sentiments in the photos, it says:

The birth of your baby,
a gift from above,
will bring joy to your life,
when showered with love.

My Sister's Baby Shower

Hi to all my friends in the blogging world!!

Sorry I have been neglecting you lately!  I have been busy with my sister's baby shower (last weekend) and my oldest son's 8th birthday (this weekend).  I have a tendency to "over-do" parties at my house... or so my hubby says.  I think I just enjoy creating and saving the money by doing it myself is totally worth it to me! :)

Okay, I just wanted to share a couple pictures from the baby shower.  The decorations were ADORABLE!!  I hung clothes lines in the house and the back patio and hung baby clothes from them.  This was a totally cute decoration and all the clothes went to my sister for her baby afterwards!! I didn't get pictures of the clothes lines, but I'll have to bug my sister for some.

Also, I made a really cute window decoration!  I used my Cricut Expression and my laptop with Sure Cuts a Lot to cut vinyl letters and the New Arrival cart to cut the onesie.  It turned out so good (it's too bad it doesn't photograph well).

Font used: Cupid

The last thing I wanted to share with you was a diaper cake.  My sons were all excited for a cake shaped like a diaper and were utterly disappointed when it was a cake made out of diapers! :)  It was so funny to see the look on my five year old's face when he heard that... "we can't eat diapers" he said!

I haven't written out directions for the diaper cake.  When I knew I wanted to make one, I took my search to You Tube and found several videos that helped me out a lot.  Here is the one I used for my cake.

The Sweetest Thing Challenge

It's time again for a The Sweetest Thing Challenge.  As always, it's a sketch challenge.
Here is the link to the blog and  the sketch:

Here is my entry for the challenge.  It is a card for my sister.  If you've visited my blog in the past, you probably know that my twin sister is pregnant.  In the middle of the final touches of planning her baby shower, I remembered I needed to make a card for her.... and then I remembered this challenge.

Two birds, one stone.... always the best plan for a busy mom like me! :O)

The sentiment reads:  "A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above, a handful of happiness, a heart full of love."

Here is the side view and you can see the matching paper peeking out of the inside.

I don't think you can tell from the pics, but the three dots on the left of the sentiment are three blue rhinestones. The ribbon is light blue gros grain ribbon. The scallop on the bottom is black velvet ribbon. The blue checkered paper is the same paper I used on her baby shower invites.

Here is a blog post where I showed the baby shower invites I made for her:

Made by Momo Challenge: Babies

The Made by Momo Challenge this week is "Babies, and Diapers, and Onesies, Oh My"!!!

My sister is pregnant, and being the sister that I am, I am making her baby shower invites!!

The "New Arrival" onesies are the front of the invite, attached with pop-dots and complete with glitter pen doodling!  The inside includes pockets and all the shower info slips inside.  The inserts include shower info, registry info, a slip asking the guests to bring some baby advise and an additional registry slip about a specific kind of biodegradable cloth diaper my sister is interested in.

At this step, I still need to add a couple things to finish them up.  I will be adding an embossed sentiment on the inside pocket reading "It's a Boy!" I also need to load the pockets too.

Here are the other style I made.  I needed a total of 30 invites, so I made 10 of each style.

The paper on this one is glittery! :)

Feel free to leave a comment, I'd love to know what you think.
