I am Thankful Tunnel Card

Hi to all my friends in blogging world! :)

I wanted to post a quick card I made last week.  It is a tunnel card, a fall card, a Thanksgiving or thank you card all rolled into one!  LOVE IT!

I have to say, this is probably my favorite card I have made in a while. Can you believe it... not a single Cricut cut!  This paper is so beautiful that it needed to be left alone!  Who wouldn't love this gorgeous paper, with lovely colors and gold foil accents!  The paper is from Me and My Big Ideas, so is the leaf sticker on the inside.  I got them both ON CLEARANCE at Michaels. ---- Gotta love clearance ----

BTW - if you don't know how to make this style of card - a tunnel card - take a look at my posting including directions and pictures:

Thanks so much for visiting me here at CardsbyCG.blogspot.com.  I'd love to hear what you think.  Feel free to become a follower or sign up for my email updates (provided through FeedBurner).  I'd love to share my crafting journey with you! - Cheryl

Blog Hop Day Five: Gift Card Holder

This project was designed for the Back to School Blog hop but will double as an entry on FaceBook:
http://www.facebook.com/TheScrapoholic

The challenge was to use an item that would usually be recycled or thrown away!

Welcome back to the Back to School Blog Hop! I'm so glad that you joined me today. If you haven't been hopping here everyday, feel free to check back on my blog. In the last five days, I've shared a Bookmark Reading Log, Matching Monster Booklets, a quick and easy treat holder, and scratch tickets. Today, we'll make gift card holders.

First step is RECYCLE!! I always love a project where you can recycle and craft! Save a toilet paper roll or two (or paper towel roll if you prefer).

I read on someone else's blog that the best way to flatten out a TP roll is to run it through your Cuttlebug. It worked great!

Thanks to a reader's comment, here is the blog that I snagged the Cuttlebug tip from!

Okay, so flatten your TP roll and staple it shut on only one end and the sides of the open end (see the pictures).

Next cut paper to fit the flat roll. My paper was 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and is from the DCWV "Grade School mini stack. It didn't require ANY trimming.... LOVE THAT!!

Then cut a tag that will slip into the tube. You can hand cut a tag that measures 2" x 4 3/4" or use the Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge and cut a tag using 2". You'll need two tags for each tube. I sandwich the two tags together for strength.

Punch a hole in the tag, set and eyelet and thread on some ribbon. I used my 3/16" hole and eyelets setter on my Crop-a-Dile. My ribbon measured about 12".

I added a little thank you tag with my 2" scallop punch and 1 1/2" circle punch. I used a Studio G "Thank you" stamp.

Here is a close-up of the Thank You tag.

See how great the gift card fits the tube! And you can feel great about recycling
(and you gotta love free supplies)!

Challenge @ More Than Favors, Made by Momo, & Penny's Challenges

Challenge from More Than Favors:

"Well it's Wednesday again!!! Let's have some fun and get inspired. Once again I decided to do another sketch challenge. As you know this is my favorite way to start a project whether it be a scrapbook page or a card. So this week I went back to my favorite place for sketches... Page Maps! Let's be creative gang. You can chose to do any type of project you would like, any size, color or theme. Can't wait to see your creations!  Here is this weeks sketch:

Challenge at Made by Momo: Flowers

Challenge at Penny's Challenges
# 35 - "Anything Goes"

Here is my entry for all of those challenges:

Here is a thank you card I made.  It measures 5" x 7" and features a picture I took of my Lilac tree this spring. I cut it in 2" squares and reassembled it to match the tile look in the sketch.  All the paper is from DCWV "Flower Shower" spring matstack.  The stamps are from American Crafts. The sheer purple ribbon is from the Dollar Store, I buy it in all kinds of colors (I get nine yards for a buck).

I mounted the lilacs and the "thank you" up on pop-dots to give it lots of dimension.

Here's just one more view, hopefully you can see all the dimension!

I'm always happy when I get comments on my work and would love to hear what you think.

Please come on back to my blog on Sunday, August 8th for the beginning of a 5-stop Back to School Blog Hop.  I'll have a total of eight different projects (one each day of the blog hop, Aug 8th -Aug 15th) and will be giving out some wonderful blog-candy. If you want to know what it will be, check back tomorrow morning.

Thanks for visiting Cards by CG, please become a follower and come with me on my creative journey!
