Sonic the Hedgehog

Today I made this Sonic the Hedgehog card.  As much as my kids enjoy the occasional video game veg-out... my nephew is a video game JUNKIE!! He's turning 7 (SEVEN!!) and he wants a Sonic party... this is after last years Mario party.  

 So here is the card he will get for his bday this year. I made it a window card, the circle in the center is filled with transparency plastic.  The card base is 5" x 5" and only has a few layers.

Here is the inside.  I printed the Sonic heads and created a shadow layer, added my sentiment (using "Nice Sonic" for my font) and attached it directly under the head layer on the front.

Here you can see I added a second Sonic head to the inside of the card front to finish off the whole card. I little border of the teal paper adds some great detail to the inside of the card.

See the window! :) Cute! I even added a couple layers of Glossy Accents to the gold rings.  I just punched with my 3/4" punch and then centered my 1" punch to create uniform rings.

I added the sentiment tag to the front, a tag-line of Sonic's... and five gold rings to both sides of the card front. Gel pen stitches and three little brads (colored black with a Sharpie) finish off the card front.

I printed the Sonic heads onto white cardstock. 

Cutting around him by hand was the best way to go.

And my SIL had me make the invites (that aren't quite finished - the party will be Sept 11th) and cupcake pics for the party. These were really quick. I printed them all onto white cardstock and punched with a 1 1/2" circle.  Attached them to a "skinny craft stick" with hot glue, add the sentiment side too, and I was done. 

 I made 72 of these (two dozen of each of the three styles).  

The sentiment side is using "Saga Title" font.

Salt and Pepper Card

This fun card is from From My Kitchen. I love the shape of the card... it's a recipe card! The card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and will fit in a standard A2 envelope.

The salt and pepper shakers are cut at 3".  I inked around all the blue layers with royal blue ink.

I attached the pepper shaker with 1/8" pop dots and the salt shaker with 1/4" pop dots.  I just LOVE the dimension!! I drew the holes on the top of the shakers with my white gel pen. I added these flat back self adhesive pearls in sets of three (I buy mine at Craft Warehouse).

I printed this sentiment using Hobby font at 23 points. My EK Success Photo Label punch was perfect for this card.  I hand cut the blue layer to mat.  This blue textured card stock is from my scraps, but I know it's Bazzill.  I added some white gel pen stitches on these blue layers only.

Here you can see how the gel pen stitches match the white stitching on the blue ribbon.  I found this ribbon on clearance for 50 cents at Walmart. The polka dot back ground paper is from Heidi Grace.

Instead of having a card base that opens to the side (which would be easier with this card shape)  I made this card open from the top so it can be displayed.  My card base measures 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" and folds in the center.

Flower Birthday Card

Here is a super fun shaped card I made.  I adore shaped cards and make them quite often... I may have to make some more of these to add to my card stash.

All the paper is from my stash. I cut the card shape using the flower on Simply Charmed (page 39) and used my Gypsy to size it to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and weld the shadow layer to form the card base. The entire flower head is popped up on a layer of pop dots.

I inked all the edges of this card, the orange layers using orange ink and the green layer using green ink. I curved this stamp from Hero Arts : Big Hugs set to fit the shape of the flower head.

I used a green button from my stash and some lace to add an adorable stamen to the flower head. I popped the center of the flower up on a second layer of pop dots to accommodate the thickness of the button. I ran a length of lace around the bottom edge of the flower head too.

Here you can see how cute the shaped card base is.  I love how well it stands up.  It opens from the top, I cut the card base in white and cut an additional top layer in black (for the shadow) and the extra layer covers the folded edge on top.  Lastly, I added some doodling using my Gelly Roll white gel pen.
