Butterfly Prayers

A friend of mine is going through chemo right now, so I thought she could use something to let her know we are all praying for her.  Here is a Cricut-less card I made for her today.

The glittery background paper is from the DCWV Blooms and Butterfly stack, the pink polka-dots is from Heidi Grace and the dark pink accent paper and black are scraps from my stash. I added gel pen stitches around the black layers.

I bought this wonderful sheer butterfly from the Dollar Tree. This is the larger of the two sizes I bought (they came in pink, purple and blue.. and yes I bought them all). The large butterflies came two per pack and the smaller came three per pack. I love the wire frames and the rhinestone are beautiful! :)

I typed the sentiment on my computer using Gabriola font and punched it out with my Photo Label punch from EK Success. I added a pink and black mat too (just hand cut them to size) and attached some light blue self adhesive rhinestones to match the butterfly. I attached the sentiment tag with some pop-dots.

The border punch is from Martha Stewart (sorry, I don't know the name).  I added three more rhinestones along the bottom in three sizes.

Here you can see the dimension that the butterfly adds to the card front.  The butterfly comes with a wire coming out of the back to attach it, I cut the wire a little short, and punched a hole in the card front layers.  I just taped the butterfly's wire to the back so it can be taken apart to be reused or saved.

Here is the inside, I just used some more of the same papers to decorate the inside.

Being Sick is Ruff!

Challenge #36 Achoo!

Create a project having something to do with being sick 

(i.e. get well card, band-aid, "flu-bug", etc.)

The challenge over at Little Red Wagon is "do it in 3's"

(I used three blue rhinestones)

The challenge over at One Stitch at a Time is "Your Favorite Color"

Blue is, by far, my favorite color

I made this "Get well soon" Cup a Soup packet. It is the same design that I used to make a Hot Chocolate card last week. This week, I am changing it up a little bit and it becomes a "Being Sick is Ruff" card.

I used Cloud 9 paper called "travel stripe"

Here is the project all opened up. As you can see the cup-of-soup packet attaches at the top with two holes (I used my crop a dile, but any hole puncher will do) and tie a bow with ribbon to hole the packet. 

On the inside, I added more of the Cloud 9 patterned paper and a MS photo corner punches as the message portion of the card. I added black stitches (yeah, I'm kind of addicted) and a Scrappy Mom's stamp from "Everyday Greetings."

Here is a couple close-ups of the front.  I added a sentiment I made on my computer (attached with pop-dots), the dog is from Create a Critter (Dalmatian cut at 3") also attached with pop-dots.

And I added some rhinestones for some sparkle, one on his collar, and three up the left side of the card front.

Here are the dimensions for this project:

Card body: 4" x 11" - scored and folded at 1" and 6 1/4" 

Front mat: 3 3/4" x 4 1/2"

Inside mat: 3 3/4" x 4 1/2" 

Ribbon: about 10"

More Than Favors Challenge

Wacky Wednesday #8 - Color Challenge

This week for Wacky Wednesday I wanted to do a Color Challenge... The Colors are Pink, Black, Grey & White.

Here is my entry for the color challenge.

My sister-in-law's Mother is in need of a pick me up.  During a Mammogram, she found a lump in her breast.  She's had it removed and will be starting Chemotherapy soon.  This little whale is for her.

This is a Z-fold card (A2 size) and has a pink card stock base. Next, it has a white CS base topped with a pink and white striped vellum (Colorbok) - same treatment for the inside of the card. The whale is cut at 3 1/2" from Create a Critter complete with Grey and pink layers.  The ribbon on the left side is Straight and Narrow ribbon from Michaels. 

The card is topped off with a computer generated sentiment reading "Get Whale Soon" (Sweden font) matted in black.  I added some pink rhinestones to the  sentiment panel and the whale, added Stickles to the whale spray and dotted the eyes with a white gel pen.
