Lego Mini-fig Head and a Blog Hop

Okay, time for my project:

My son, Bryce, just celebrated his 11th birthday and his favorite thing right now is LEGOS!!! Do you have one of those kiddos too??

Anyway, I designed a Lego Mini-figurine head card for his birthday. While there is no Lego Cricut Cartridge, I had to come up with something....

Using my Gypsy, I combined some images from both Robotz and a couple periods and 1/2 of a parenthesis from Plantin School Book for the smiley mouth. I welded two of the Robotz image, flipping one upside down, to create a shape very close to the shape of a Lego Mini-Fig head.

I set the file up to cut the face (with the eyes and smile cut outs) on the left and the background face piece of the right. The card base was set-up on layer 2 on my Gypsy. I welded two of the background pieces together to form the folded base.

Here you can see all the parts ready for assembly. I sized the head to be 4 1/4" wide and just over 5 1/2" tall, you'll see why in just a couple steps.

So, I folded the base and I was ready for assembly. Like the Create a Critter carts, this card became very easy to assemble. :)

See, easy and quick assembly. :) Okay, so the bottom bump (called studs) on the Lego Mini-Fig head was a little long... so I used my paper trimmer to cut the card to 5 1/2" so it can fit in a standard A2 card. Don't forget to round the corners with a corner chomper or just by hand.

I added some details and doodling with my Sakura White Gel Pen.

Then, using the same face files, sized to 1", I made some Mini-fig confetti to put inside the card. Since Bryce was turning 11, his card was filled with 11 little friends. :)

Gift for a teacher : Apple Card Set

Today I have a card set teacher's gift to share with you.  I made a set of ten of these adorable pieces apple card for my boy's teachers.

I used red, black and white generic card stock, patterned card stock from the DCWV's Grade School mat stack, a Studio G rubber stamp (but any stamp with an outline would work) and some craft string (or twine).  In addition, I cut a box for the set of A2 cards to be gifted in.  

The little apples are stamped onto a 2" x 2" piece of white card stock, the black layer is 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" and the red layer is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".  I stamped the apple onto red polka-dot paper (DCWV, stack 7), brown (for the stem), green (for the leaf) and white (for the apple center).  I cut each of these pieces out so I could glue them together for the finished apple.  It was quite time consuming, but I think they turned out wonderful!!

Here is how they look finished.  I used some Zig precision glue to assemble the apples. 

The red card base measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  I wrapped three layers of craft string around the patterned card stock before I used my ATG tape to assemble the card front. I then used my ATG tape to secure the apple layer to the center of the card front.

I made ten cards for each teacher.  Each card has the same apple decoration, but the patterned card stock is all different -- all from DCWV's Grade School mat stack.

I love how they all go together! :)

I used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More to make the gift boxes (the matchbox on button 43 or page 124). The window is from Just Because Cards. To complete the window, I recycled some Cricut Cartridge packaging!

Here is the Gypsy file for the box.  It is sized to fit the A2 cards with envelopes.

I tied the box closed with some more string and made a little matching tag and voila!  It's done. 

Here's the second box, the little frame around the window is different, but everything else is the same.

Grinch Pills

My boys love our "Grinch Pills".  These could be perfect for that person on your Christmas list that just doesn't have the Holiday Spirit. They also make wonderful stocking stuffers.

I shared them last year, but really think they deserve another go... plus I had to make some more today, so they were fresh in my mind. :)

  The Gypsy files use "Just Because Cards" for the rounded rectangle and "spine" of the tic tac wrapper (but you could substitute any rounded rectangle if you need to).

Bee-u-tiful Card

I have a super fun card to share with you today. 

This is my very first spinner card. :)

The card base is from Wild Card but any circle card base (or make one yourself) can be used for this card.  I cut the card base out at 5" (in white) a black circle layer at 5", a light blue circle layer (4 3/4") that I added a little cut out on the right side and the face of the bee (not welded so they cut out,  using my Gypsy).

The yellow circle (added with a brad under the blue layer) rotates to reveal three Peachy Keen faces and a birthday message. I placed the brad in the center of the card but lined up the bee to cover the brad head. The little clouds are from Create a Critter as is the Bee.

I inked all around the blue layer and the clouds in royal blue ink. I added some Star Dust Stickles on the bee's wings, the clouds and the bee's body too. A little more on the sentiment tag finish off the card giving it a wonderful sparkle.

All the Peachy Keen faces are from the Everyday Face Assortment.

The fourth spot on the spinner wheel says "Hap-bee Birthday" using Marker font. I also stamped a little bee trail under the the bee using the same royal blue ink that I applied to the clouds and blue circle.

Here you can see the shaped card base. I just used white so it'll be easy to write inside.

The stamped sentiment is a mix of two different stamps from My Pink Stamper's Punny-licious. I punched it with my EK Success Photo Label punch and matted it in yellow and black. Lastly, I added some white gel pen stitches. I am super happy with the card.  I hope you all like it too! :)
