Flower Pot Card (with tutorial)

Sorry it took me longer than expected to get it finished, but I am here today to give you all the goodies: including a Gypsy file!!

Here are the parts and pieces you used the Gypsy to cut.  

All cuts are from Walk in my Garden.

You get the flower pot card base (becomes a pocket style card) a flower pot lip (I cut two to have a backup in case I mess up a stamp or something), six flowers, six flower centers, six leaves (vein layer) six leaf bases, an insert (cut from matching patterned paper) and a white writing space.

Here is the card insert (assembled) inside the flower pot card base.  I place the insert into the pocket so I know where to put the glue.  I used ATG and applied it to the two sides of the flower pot base on either side of the card insert. Fold the pre-scored base closed to seal it up.

Assemble the flowers on the top of the card insert.  I place the insert inside the pot and glue the flowers down, using an A2 envelope as a guide.  You want to make sure that your card will still be mailable! :) I mount the last two or three flowers up on pop dots for dimension.

Here you can see all the flowers applied and the pop dots I put on the pot lip to attach the lip with the sentiment.

Here you see the completed card.  I stamped a Studio G "happy birthday" on the pot lip and added a little satin ribbon too. I added glitter glue to the flower centers, leaf veins and the rectangle around the stamp.

I also added white gel pen around the pot and 

pot lip and also around the card insert.

I put the card in a vellum envelope so you can see how it fits in an A2 envelope.  I love these vellum envelopes, you just add an address label and it can go right through the mail like this! :)

Watering Can Birthday Card

Today marks the start of another challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas.

Today I am sharing a card that I just instantly fell in love with... 

I may have to keep it for myself!!

Here is the whole card. It's a watering can shaped card.

I added five button flowers, added brad centers, and glitter.

I tied this cute little double looped bow with my Bow Easy.

The "Happy, Happy Birthday!" stamp is from Scrappy Moms Stamps.

I added gel pen stitches all around the card! :)

More glitter glue on the spout of the watering can.

Simple Flower Birthday Card

Today marks the start of another challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas.

This week the challenge is:

A Sketch Challenge

Here is my take on the sketch.

The card base is a standard A2 (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") and all the paper is from My Mind's Eye Lime Twist collection. I inked all the edges with some brown Memento ink and a sponge.

This adorable sentiment stamp is from Hero Art's Big Hugs stamp set. The scalloped border is from Fiskars.

I cut this little four petaled flower from Walk in my Garden. I chose the color and the shape of the flower to mimic the flowers in the background paper. A little button at the center of the flower finishes it perfectly, it matches the sketch too. 

I love my white gel pen. A few faux stitches give this card some wonderful character.

Before I attached the flower, I added dimension with a ball embosser and gave the petals a terrific curl. Using some small pop dots under each petal and gluing the center of the flower down adds just enough dimension without making this card too bulky for mailing.

Garden Birthday card

Today marks the start of another challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas.

Garden theme

Today, my card features a 3" wheelbarrow from Walk in my Garden, clouds from Serenade, grass from Everyday Paper Dolls and the sun from Celebrate the Occasion! The card base, sun and sentiment banner are all made from handmade wildflower embedded seed paper!! All those layers can be planted to grow a wonderful garden of wildflowers!

I inked all the layers with a sponge and coordinating ink colors. I hand cut the little banner and stamped it with a Scrappy Mom's Stamp. I used Momento black ink... if you are stamping on textured paper like this, it's a great idea to test the ink on a scrap of the paper before you put it on your project.

The center of the little flowers are finished off with some Liquid Pearls in light yellow.

All the layers and embellishments are added with pop dots. I wanted to make sure they can be easily removed so the card base can be planted.

Fall 3-D Wheelbarrow

Today is another Craft Junkie Too Design Team day. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love being on Tracy's Design Team!! Her awesome assignments are just a small part of it.  The challenge for this week is:

Autumn, Fall or Halloween - Not a Card

I love this cute little wheelbarrow!! It measures a WHOPPING 11 3/4"! I inked the edges of the handles, the wheel and the wheelbarrow body too.

I also made a trio of 3-D pumpkins to add. :) The little leaves on the pumpkins are from A Child's Year - cut at 1 1/2" and inked with green and orange ink.

I don't have directions for it, but this is the body of the wheelbarrow.  This is not a 3-D project in the Walk in My Garden Cricut Cart... but I just HAD to make it into this cute 3-D display.

I grabbed this adorable leafy mini garland at Craft Warehouse... so cute! :)

I cut the wheel out of a dark gray color and inked the edges black for depth.  Each side of the wheelbarrow is a total of three thicknesses of cardstock, I also added strength to the front wheel by adding this strip of cardstock.

I also used Popsicle sticks to add strength to the structure. I really wanted this little wheelbarrow to be able to hold quite a lot of weight... I knew what my kids would want to display inside.

And of it loaded down after a trip to the mini pumpkin farm! :)

And this is what my kiddos loaded into the mini wheelbarrow... I just knew it would pay to reinforce it! :)

Sunglasses card

I've been making these tall / long cards lately.  I love them because they fit in a standard business size envelope. This card measures just under 9" x 4" and is a very fun shaped card.

These are the sunglasses from the Paisley cartridge.  I sized the shadow layer to 9" wide using my Gypsy (the height ended up at 3.33") and it will fit into the business envelope just fine.  The sunglasses are cut out of DCWV paper from the summer stack I bought last year. I added some silver mirror paper for the lenses! :) The shadow is generic brick red cardstock.

Here is the sentiment on the front.  I cut the glasses out and then set my text in Photoshop.  I first print it on regular printer paper and then attach the cut layer with just a little strip of glue runner from my ATG . Then I run it back through the printer so it prints directly on the pattern paper just where I want it.  I used Jolt at 24 points for the "Happy Birthday!" sentiment. Of course I added some white gel pen stitches using my Gelly Roll pen.

Here is a close up of the hand pieced flower. 

Here you can see the dimension in the hand pieced paper flower.  I think there is a total of like 22 layers on this flower, 10 of the background flower (cut at 1" from Walk in my Garden) and 10 layers of the top flower (which is an EK Success punch) and a couple of layer of the green in between).  I added the set of three leaves (also cut at 1" from Walk in my Garden - border feature) and curled them just a little.

Here you can see I also added text to the inside of the card in the same way.  This is also Jolt at 36pt.  I like to take my text and add a small outline of coordinating colors - this one has a brick red border around the black text.

Tracy over at Craft Junkie Too is up to it again!! She has asked her wonderful design team (including me) to create a project with the theme:

End of School - Teacher Gifts

Here is the gift I am presenting to my 6 year-old's kindergarten teacher. One of the other Mom's in my son's class traced all the student's hand for me. I then made these boards to showcase their adorable hand prints. I painted two 2' x 4" thin birch panels.  I added some Cricut cut grass layers, and made each of the students into a flower (the stems are from Walk in My Garden) and the name of the student is also a leaf on the stem. Each flower has a Peachy Keen face too. Then I added clouds and garden tools to finish off the board.

The clouds say "Teachers plant the seeds of knowledge..." and the second one says "and look how much we've grown."  The kingerGARDEN tools include a watering can that says "practice" and seed packet that says "learning skills" and the sun that says "patience and encouragement.  I added doodles all over the flowers and all the little tools too. 

Here is a close-up of the watering can and seed packet (or garden marker). I inked all the edges on both of these items and secured them with Scrap-dots. Scrap-dots are a 3-D liquid adhesive that comes in a tube like ointment. Love it, but it takes a little time to dry.

Here is the sun, again I inked the edges and added doodling.

Here is my son's hand.  I think the Peachy Keen faces add a lot of character! :)

  

How cute are all those little flowers! Yep, the huge flower on the right belongs to Mr. Smith, the Kindergarten teacher!!

Here is the class presenting the gift to their teacher.  Don't they all look so happy!

Each student was very excited to see their name and hand print included in the gift!

Here is the front. I kept it super simple... wait until you see the inside!

The Hero Art's sentiment is embossed with white to go along with the white gel pen stitches I added. I used a Bow Easy to tie the sheer ribbon into a wonderful double looped bow.

All the flowers and leaves are from Walk in my Garden. I added some little yellow dew drops to the flower centers. Each flower is two petal layers.

Are you ready for the inside??? It's a tunnel card!! And the best part of all??

The card body shape is from Preserves sized to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". The scalloped circle (around the tunnel cut out) is from Accent Essentials. The yellow center of the flower got some Star Dust Stickles too.

I love the two white panels on the sides, it sure leaves you lots of room to add your message to the lucky recipient.

Here is a very dimensional view of a tunnel card.  In this shot you can see how the flower is suspended in the window (I just used some white thread). I would be happy to do a tutorial of a tunnel card if I get enough interest. Please leave me a comment and let me know if that's something you'd like to see.
