Santa in July??

Today marks the start of another Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge!!
This weeks theme is

Today I used an older cartridge. I just LOVE Doodlecharms and grabbed it right away when I received this challenge! I just love this Santa. He sits on an A2 (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") Z-fold card. Santa is cut to 4" (along with his coordinating layers) and I cut an additional shadow layer.

Here's why.... I use the additional shadow layer to position my inside sentiments so it won't show when the card is closed. The background paper is from an old Christmas pack in my stash. I also added a strip of red stitched gros grain ribbon along the side and three buttons to finish off the right side.

I used my white gel pen (I know, I can't resist) to add stitches along Santa's shadow layer and add shine to his eyes.

See how great this little card can sit on it's own. I just LOVE Z-fold cards.

We'd love for you to come on over and play along with us at Die Cuttin' Divas!

Christmas in July

Are you ready for Christmas.... in July, that is! :)
Here is my very first Christmas card for the year! It's a winter scene card with a pickup taking home a beautiful Christmas tree! I cut the pickup from Just Because Cards at 5" (all layers including the shadow) using the flip feature.  The truck is completed with silver mirror paper for the hub caps, door handle and fenders. Then I cut the Christmas tree at 3" from Doodlecharms (including the shadow layer).

I added glitter to the truck top and the tree to represent a fresh winter snowfall.  Then I added the "Christmas is on its way!" embossed in black.  The stamp is a couple years old so I don't know if you can still get it or not, but it's from Inkadinkado # 97734 - Warm Holiday Wishes.

And lastly, I added some white "stitching" using my Gelly Roll pen.

"One Smart Cookie" Z-fold card

Today is a Design Team Day over at Paper Playtime! :)
The theme this time is to make a z-fold card.

I made two of these wonderful cards to give to my boy's teacher for the last day of school. We tied the cards to a bag of chocolate chip cookies!! YUMMM!

I added the sentiment tag with some pop-dots but only attached it to the right side of the card.  This lets the block act like a little latch to hold the card shut when you tuck the cookie under the sentiment tag! :) Cute huh!

The cookie is cut at 3 1/2" from Sesame Street Friends. I added some "white" glaze pen doodling to the cookie but it really looks like embossing.

I printed these little sentiments on my computer. I used Copybook font for the top and bottom lines and Peas Picky Panda for the center line.  All the text was 20 point font.  I've included this file in JPG format so you can print some out for the teachers in your life!

This is how the z-fold card folds out flat.  Normally, there is no hole in the card base, I just added it so I can string the cards onto the bag of cookies.

Just click on the pic above and right click to save it so you can use if for your own card! :)

Now, head on over to Paper Playtime and enter in the z-fold card challenge!

I am also including this card in the following challenge:

Happy Birthday card - 29 again?

Hi everybody!! I am happy to be back here blogging with you!!

I've finished up my Dad's Christmas cards, my MIL's Christmas cards and my Christmas cards.... phew!  What a lot of work, but I am so glad there are finished. I made a total of 125 cards in a little less than a week!!

Okay, I am excited to have the time to enter some challenges!

Party Time Tuesdays has the challenge of

Anything Goes... Birthday

So here is my entry for the cards only challenge.

My "29 again?" card is a Z-fold card.  The 29 is glittered DCWV card stock, the "again?" is metallic silver paper (sorry, I don't know who makes it).

This is the card closed, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

The background paper is KI Memories, Party specialty card stock with glitter.

The "Happy Birthday" stamp was from Dollar Tree forever ago, and the white gros grain ribbon is from Joanns. I added the white "stitching" with a gelly roller pen.

Manly Thank You

Here is a new card I made.  I made it for my neighbor who asked me for "a manly thank you card."

It also goes perfectly for Emma's Throwback Challenge over at My Creative Time.

Emma asked the project this week to be Cricut-less!! GASP!
And she also wanted it to be a thank you project.

Here is what I came up with.

Here is the front of the Z-fold card.  A simple "Thank You" adorns the left side.

These metallic compasses are from a travel stack, DCWV, I think.  I hand cut them
and added a large black circle punch under the large compass.

I love the look of the leather paper with the little black photo corners.

My newest Christmas Card

I totally fell in love with this card!! I made it today on my lazy Sunday afternoon.

Here is a wonderful little "Z" card. It has a reindeer on the front and opens up to reveal an entire 4 1/4" x 9" space to write you message.

The card opens up in a way that the front is still visible, making it wonderful to display open or closed.

The red and white gros grain ribbon is a lovely touch to the left of the card and the red accent buttons are wonderful running down the right.

As you can see the reindeer on the front of the card is accented with gel pen "stitches".

Did you fall in love with this little card too?? It is now listed in my Etsy store at

My First CJT Design Team Project

Hi everyone!! I am so excited.  If you've been following my blog recently, you know that I am now a very proud member of Tracy's design team over at Craft Junkie Too.

Craft Junkie Too Friend
Tracy asked the design team for this week to design a fall themed project.  She wasn't any more restrictive than that and it sure made my very first DT project fun!!!  Oh the freedom!! :)

Here is my project: I made a z-fold card with this adorable turkey!!

Turkey from Create a Critter - cut at 3"
Here is the card open to it's full length - 4 1/4" x 11"

I added a orange checked ribbon from Big Lots, and three black buttons from Michaels.

Big surprise... more stitching! :)

As you can see I printed the sentiment "Gobble 'til you wobble!" on vellum and then attached the it to the card base. The vellum not only looks nice, but it makes the background more subtle so that a message can be written on the pumpkin patterned paper from Cloud 9 design.

Thanks again to Tracy at Craft Junkie Too for choosing me to join her wonderful fall design team!!
